Business Development Manager

Bancontact Payconiq Company is looking for an ambitious and energetic Business Development Manager to help both our new and existing partners to grow their Bancontact and Payconiq business.

Position summary 

At Bancontact Payconiq Company, market leader in electronic payments in Belgium, we offer payment products that meet the needs of the Belgian market. 

As a merchant (small and large retailers) you can accept Bancontact and/or Payconiq as payment means in physical shops, apps, ecom sites,… 

As a consumer, you can choose to pay with a physical Bancontact Card or to pay mobile with the Payconiq by Bancontact app or with one of the banking apps that embedded the Bancontact and/or Payconiq functionalities. A consumer can pay mobile with one of our products at retail stores and online, as well as between friends and even to pay invoices and bills. 

Within the business development team (8FTE) you will be looking after our partners on the ‘acceptance side’ of our ecosystem, i.e. mainly large Acquirers and Payment Service Providers who distribute Bancontact and/or Payconiq to their affiliated merchants. 

As Business Development Manager you will also be in direct contact with large retailers to convey our brand values and inform them of the added values of offering Bancontact and Payconiq as payment means to their customers/end-consumers. 

Bancontact Payconiq Company continually breaks new ground in technological and innovative solutions based on market feedback and research. You will play a significant role in gathering the market needs and by consequence defining together with your product colleagues the future of payments. 

As Business Development Manager you will report to the Chief Commercial Officer (CCO).

Responsibilities

Your responsibilities as a Business Development Manager within Bancontact Payconiq Company are centered around the following main areas : 

Growth of Bancontact Payconiq Company 

As Business Development Manager, you are a member of the team which is driving the growth of our company, i.e. both in terms of number of (distributing) partners as well as in terms of number of transactions. This implies – but is not limited to: 

  • Growth on ‘acceptance side’: developing Bancontact and Payconiq business to grow the number of partners that distribute these products in the market as well as supporting and monitoring the growth at existing partners. 
  • Growth in number of Bancontact and Payconiq transactions on the market. 

Strong relationships with key retailers and partners 

Retailers fuel the growth of Bancontact and Payconiq as leading payment methods. It is therefore part of your responsibility to maintain strong relationships with large retailers when it comes to transactions in physical shops, transactions in webshops and all other use cases allowing mobile payment transactions. 

At Bancontact Payconiq Company we benefit form a large ecosystem and we are partnering with a high number of actors on the Belgian market and outside the Belgian market. As Business Development Manager you will maintain and develop strong relations with our partners being the acquirers, PSP’s, Payconiq distributors and technical integrators. 

It will be important to adopt at all times an ‘inclusive approach’, i.e. all our partners are important, being large or small. 

Pro-active, entrepreneurial and collaborative attitude 

We are looking for a pro-active Business Development Manager to target new and existing partners and retailers by setting meetings, networking and actively selling Bancontact and Payconiq in the market. An entrepreneurial and collaborative mindset and approach is key in this role. 

Desired skills and experience 

We are looking for a highly motivated candidate, willing to convey our brand values in everything he/she undertakes in his/her daily job. 

Education and Experience 

  • Master’s degree in the relevant field or equivalent proven experience 
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in card payment industry

  • Fluent in Dutch and/or French and English is required.
